CRL: One-stop glazing solutions for all situations

As the leading supplier and manufacturer of glazing products for commercial and domestic situations, C. R. Laurence offers one of the widest selections of high quality tools and accessories, making it a one-stop-shop for installers. The extensive product offering includes a comprehensive array of glass handling equipment, including vacuum lifters, lifting frames and glass dollies. Ensuring safe, simple and reliable handling of glass around any job site, the range features many clever ideas, including the CRL Glasstrax Glass Dolly, for moving heavy glass panels smoothly and safely.

Once the glass is centered on the Glasstrax, its weight automatically pulls the rubber lined sidewalls together, clamping it in place; The more weight loaded, the tighter the grip. Self-adjusting for surfaces up to 51 mm thick, Glasstrax has capacity for up to 272kg and can be loaded and manoeuvred by one person with ease. The collection also includes the ergonomically designed CRL Sure-Grip Vacuum Lifter S338, contoured to provide a comfortable hold during lifting compared to straight, hard handles. Thousands of micro-pads are aligned in the handle material to provide greater slip resistance during lifts for increased safety.

CRL Sure-Grip Vacuum Lifter S338 has the greatest lifting capacity of any 203mm pump activated vacuum lifter (112 kg at a safety factor of 2:1) and it includes a fast release feature due to the rubber pad and specially designed relief valve inside the valve's guard. The pump's plunger has a red indicator line to show any vacuum loss when the lifter is in use. When installers have heavy glass to lift and need cord-free movement CRL has once again the equipment to help get the job done, such as Wood’s Powr-Grip® lifting frames. The Wood’s Powr-Grip® Quadra Tilt Rotator, for example, features height 280mm lipped rubber cups, mounted on a steel frame which offers 360° rotation with tilt from any position and a dual vacuum system enabling the lifting frame to maintain the vacuum level for one circuit even if an unexpected vacuum loss occurs in the other one. Such vacuum loss is immediately warned by numerous audible and visual signals. The Wood’s Powr-Grip® Quadra Tilt Rotator has an astonishing 635kg lifting capacity and enables three configurations from the same unit. Aside from lifting heavy glass safely into place,

CRL also offers a wide range of specialist glass cutting tools and is the exclusive UK distributor of Toyo® Supercutters®. The Toyo® Notch Wheel Supercutter®, for example, is among the best in the industry, featuring a precision-ground carbide cutting wheel in a replaceable cutting head. Ideal for scoring large format glass and known for its long wheel life, the cutter is built to last and offers easy cutting with minimal hand pressure, resulting in a superior score with a non-slip cut at the start.

The CRL range also includes various glass detectors, from a single glazed coated glass detector to the ultimate CRL Glass-Chek Elite which identifies laminated glass in a window and measures the thickness of the laminate inner-layer. A graphical display shows an illustration of the profile of the window, complete with approximate scale drawing. The tool assigns numbers to each piece of glass in the window and to each surface, helping to identify any low-e coated surface. Just as useful in the field is the CRL Metric Scale Laser, a handy piece of tool that fits in the pocket and uses laser technology to accurately measure the thickness of air space and overall unit thickness in sealed insulating glass units. With measurement possible from inside the building, no glass removal is necessary and the tool is extremely easy to use, with just a press of a button needed to read the measurements.
