100,000 cycles according to DIN EN 14428: New CRL hinges pass tests

C.R Laurence of Europe GmbH (CRL) has just launched three new shower door hinge series on the market: the Lugano rise and fall hinge, the Bellagio double-action hinge and the Como single-action hinge. Now all three lines have passed the durability test according to Section 4.4.5 of DIN EN 14428: 2019-07. Not only were 20,000 cycles tested, as required by DIN, but 100,000 cycles. All hinges were fully functional even after the tough tests.

"We subjected our fittings to our own intensive tests before they were launched on the market and are pleased that the products have now passed the independent load tests," says Dominik Hinzen, Managing Director of C.R. Laurence of Europe. "We made a conscious decision to run the test with 100,000 cycles in order to be able to offer the products for projects with high loads," Hinzen continues.

The test setup was also used to the maximum when it came to glass sizes and weights: Bellagio and Como were tested with 8 mm tempered glass with a height of 2,500 mm and a width of 1,000 mm. The weight here was approx. 50 kg. The Lugano hinges were also tested with 8 mm tempered glass. Here the glass size was 900 mm wide and 2,500 mm high and the weight approx. 45 kg.

"With Lugano, Bellagio and Como, CRL is now offering very attractive high quality shower door hinges that can compete with those of the top German manufacturers," says a delighted Dominik Hinzen, adding: "Great quality made of solid brass, very well equipped, heavily tested and also a competitive price: What more could you want?
